Planning The Décor For Your Wedding Reception

Your wedding day is the biggest day of your life and it needs careful preparation: the only thing that should become hitched on the day is the bride and groom. Everything else needs to run perfectly smoothly.

While the arrival of the bride at the ceremony is a major moment and needs careful planning, another very big consideration is the reception décor. This can be a very big headache if you try to do it yourself, or in conjunction with the venue, unless you have plenty of experience, and it is fair to say that very few couples do. Fortunately, there are several wedding decorators in London who do little else other than wedding decorations and can produce a spectacular display for your reception.

Many wedding decorators in London will have a gallery on their websites, and you can get some inspiration from looking through these. Probably the most important consideration is your budget for décor: unless money really is no object, then you should decide on a budget and stick to it as closely as you can. It is fair to say that you will probably go over budget anyway, but if you can keep any excess down to 10% or 15% it won’t hurt too much.

Now you need to consider what style of wedding you wish to have. Is it going to be a relatively small quiet affair, or are you going to decorate everything in sight so that the room or hall becomes a pacific island or a tropical forest?

What about table centrepieces? These can be minimalist if you wish, but many couples want something that really stands out and makes a statement. Wedding decorators in London can produce centrepieces in a huge range of styles and designs, and again you can get some ideas and inspiration by looking through their galleries. Then there is the decoration of the tables themselves: traditional white went out of fashion some years ago, but it is actually making a comeback now, and white cloths with a coloured runner down the centre can look really great.

Lighting is another vey important thing to consider. The venue may have large windows and plenty of natural light, which is fine if it is a sunny day, but the windows may not be all that large, and of course it could be a rainy and overcast day in any case. You need to ensure that the lighting can cope with that. You may also want spotlights and other decorative lighting, all of which a wedding décor company can supply.
